MCD tells Delhi schools to appoint nodal staff for dengue prevention

Delhi schools must designate a nodal teacher or supervisory staff member to oversee dengue, malaria and chikungunya prevention on campus, according to an MCD advisory issued during the mosquito-borne disease transmission season.

The civic body has asked government and private schools to ensure water does not stagnate on their premises. Where stagnant water is found, the advisory recommends adding a small quantity of oil. School staff are also to coordinate with malaria field workers and other personnel on preventive measures.

MCD has asked schools to carry the message into online and offline classrooms through quizzes, drawing competitions and rallies. The advisory recommends that students wear full-sleeved uniforms during the August-to-November transmission period. It also advises families to use mosquito repellents and fit wire mesh on doors and windows.

MCD task forces involving different stakeholders have been formed across Delhi’s zones to carry out and monitor preventive measures.
