MCG fines Gurugram sanitation contractor ₹12 lakh over Zone 5 staff and vehicle shortfalls

The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram has fined a private sanitation contractor ₹12,00,466 after inspections found gaps in waste-collection staffing and equipment across Zone 5.

The agency was required to deploy 76 vehicles each day for door-to-door collection. Assistant sanitation inspectors found fewer vehicles operating on several days between July 25 and August 11, leading to a penalty of ₹9,95,040.

A separate inspection record, covering August 1 to 11, noted that 26 tractor-trolleys and 286 sanitation workers were absent. The corporation imposed ₹65,000 for the trolley shortage and ₹1,40,426 for the manpower gap.

The latest action takes documented penalties against the agency this year to at least ₹17.31 lakh, including a ₹5.31 lakh penalty in Zone 4 in July for shortages of tractor-trolleys and sanitation workers. Additional municipal commissioner Jayveer Yadav said contractors must meet the deployment levels set out in their work orders, with penalties imposed where inspections find deficiencies.
