MCG seeks zone-wise status of unsafe buildings in Gurugram

MCG has asked joint commissioners in all its zones to submit details of unsafe buildings, including demolition orders already issued.

The direction follows a building collapse in Satya Niketan. MCG has not conducted a fresh citywide survey of unsafe buildings in the past year.

In its February assessment, the civic body listed 45 unsafe buildings across Gurugram. Six have since been demolished and 21 repaired, MCG told the Haryana Human Rights Commission. The list included properties in Badshahpur, Kherki Daula and Hari Nagar.

Zone 3 had 20 of the 45 buildings, the highest among the zones. MCG recorded nine repairs and two demolitions there, while officials could not locate nine buildings at their reported sites. In Zone 1, MCG listed 18 structures: two were demolished, seven could not be located and nine were found safe. The lone building listed in Zone 4 was demolished.

MCG chief engineer Vijay Dhaka said the corporation had demolished six buildings it had identified as unsafe or dangerous. Zonal officials are preparing the updated reports.
