Gurugram: MCG tenders ₹8.4 crore machinery hire amid sanitation strike
The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram has invited bids to hire tractor-trolleys and earthmovers for waste collection, drain cleaning and roadside garbage lifting across eight zones.
With garbage accumulating during the 23-day sanitation workers’ strike, MCG has floated tenders for machinery and operators at an estimated cost of ₹8.4 crore. The hired fleet is to work across residential and commercial areas, green belts and designated bin locations.
Garbage collection in Gurugram’s eight municipal zones may get support from hired tractor-trolleys and earthmovers as the sanitation workers’ strike entered its 23rd day.
MCG has floated tenders for the fleet at an estimated cost of ₹8.4 crore. Tractor-trolleys would collect, load and transport waste to processing and treatment facilities. Earthmovers would be used for drain cleaning and other heavy-duty sanitation work.
The selected agency must provide drivers and operators. It will collect waste from designated dustbins and clean the bins three times a day. The work is planned in residential and commercial areas, as well as green belts along major roads and sectors under MCG.
MCG can increase or reduce the scope of work based on its requirements. Contractors must install GPS devices on the vehicles and link them to MCG’s integrated command and control centre and GMDA for monitoring.
