Delhi Traffic Police pilots mobile units on six busy corridors

Delhi University and the ISBT Kashmere Gate area are among six busy stretches where Delhi Traffic Police has begun deploying Mobile Traffic Units on a pilot basis.

The units will operate in three ranges, with two stretches selected in each. The central range covers Delhi University and ISBT Kashmere Gate; the northern range includes Bhagwan Mahavir Marg and Azadpur Mandi; and the eastern range covers NH-24 and Vikas Marg.

Unlike personnel assigned to a fixed junction, the mobile teams will move along these corridors to reach congestion points and disruptions as they occur. Police said the teams will act against violations that impede traffic flow, including improper parking, regulate critical points, assist during peak hours and support traffic management during special situations.

Delhi Traffic Police will assess the pilot before deciding whether to expand the deployment to other high-traffic corridors.
