Morning rain leaves Udyog Vihar roads clogged and waterlogged

Heavy rain turned the Udyog Vihar-3 road into a slow, waterlogged stretch on Wednesday morning, as vehicles threaded around potholes and office-goers walked through pooled water.

Congestion spread across Gurgaon near Ambience Mall, Shankar Chowk, IFFCO Chowk, Rajiv Chowk, Sohna Road and MG Road. The carriageway near Ambience Mall was flooded, while traffic backed up towards the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway near Shankar Chowk.

Bipin Sharma, who was caught in Udyog Vihar traffic, said the area needs attention because rain repeatedly chokes roads used daily by people travelling to its offices and industrial units. Another commuter, Rohit Sharma, said his trip from Sirhaul toll to Rajiv Chowk took 45 minutes; traffic eased beyond Rajiv Chowk and he reached Bilaspur in about 30 minutes.

Pedestrians on the Phase-3 stretch also faced limited walking space, with parked vehicles and roadside horticulture work narrowing the route. Namit Yadav said vehicles splashed water as he walked through the flooded, broken road towards work.

Traffic police said personnel were deployed on key roads during the rain and decongestion work was under way.
