Bandra’s Mount Mary Road to close to most vehicles from September 13

Mount Mary Road will be closed to most vehicles between 6am and 11pm from September 13 to 20 as Bandra prepares for the annual Mount Mary Fair.

Emergency vehicles and local residents carrying police-issued car passes will be allowed on Mount Mary Road. St John Baptista Road will also be shut to vehicular traffic during those hours, except for local residents with special passes.

Mumbai Traffic Police expect lakhs of devotees at Mount Mary Church during the fair and have announced one-way arrangements on Kane Road, from its Mount Mary Road junction towards B.J. Road, and on Pereira Road, east to west. Entry from B.J. Road will not be allowed on either road, apart from eligible local residents on Kane Road. The right turn at Carmel Church from Chapel Road towards Veronica Road will be closed.

Heavy vehicles will be barred from 6am to 11pm on roads including K.C. Marg, Chapel Road, Mount Carmel Road, Mount Mary Road, B.J. Road and Kane Road. Parking and halting will also be prohibited on listed roads nearby, including Hill Road between St Paul’s Road and Mehboob Studio. Police have advised motorists to use alternate routes.
