Delhi’s draft Master Plan 2047 proposes a 152 km park connector, green buffers along drains and a 75-100-metre public greenway beside the Yamuna where feasible.

Delhi’s draft Master Plan 2047 identifies thermal plant sites, reclaimed landfill land and vacated industrial plots as potential new public green spaces. A former DDA planning commissioner said land availability could constrain delivery.

Delhi’s draft Master Plan 2047 proposes a 152 km park connector linking the city’s Ridge areas, along with green buffers on major drains and at the city’s edge.

The plan envisages a 75-100-metre-wide public greenway along the Yamuna wherever feasible, with pedestrian and cycling links. Parts of these corridors could include parks, community gardens, sports spaces, boating facilities, kiosks, open-air exhibitions and heritage trails.

It also proposes converting underused or degraded land into public green spaces, including the defunct Rajghat and Badarpur thermal power stations, reclaimed landfill land and plots surrendered by industries ordered to move out of Delhi. Wetlands, marshes and low-lying areas could be used for bioswales and aquifer-recharge ponds to retain drainage patterns and reduce flooding.

The Sahibi river, or Najafgarh drain, is proposed as a possible eco-tourism hub with a navigable waterway, subject to feasibility. Former DDA planning commissioner Sabyasachi Das said plantation may be possible on DDA-owned land, but wider land availability remains a constraint. He cited earlier discussions with villagers in Dwarka on using part of their land that did not materialise.
