Mumbai ANC seizes heroin worth ₹64.60 lakh in Versova, codeine syrup in Pydhonie

A trap laid in Versova, Andheri West, at about 9.40pm on September 4 led to the recovery of 323 grams of heroin, Mumbai Police’s Anti-Narcotics Cell said. Police valued the seizure at ₹64.60 lakh and arrested two people, alleging the substance had been brought into the city for illegal sale.

The ANC’s Kandivali Unit registered a case at Versova police station under Sections 8(c), 21(c) and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

In a separate operation, the ANC’s Azad Maidan Unit arrested one person in an investigation into alleged trafficking of codeine phosphate-based cough syrup in Pydhonie and nearby areas. Police said 367 bottles, valued at ₹3.67 lakh, were seized.

The inquiry began on July 17 after police detained a person on suspicion of drug-related activity and recovered 157 bottles of the syrup. Information obtained during questioning later led police to Izraili Mohalla on Masjid Bunder Road, where another person was arrested, police said. Investigations in both cases are continuing.
