Maharashtra has declared November 9 a local holiday for specified Mumbai government and semi-government offices. Private firms and other districts are not covered.

Specified state and semi-government offices in Mumbai City and Mumbai Suburban districts will observe an additional local holiday on Monday, November 9, under a Maharashtra government circular.

The General Administration Department issued the circular on November 6. The holiday falls between Lakshmi Pujan on Sunday, November 8, and Bali Pratipada on Tuesday, November 10, extending the Diwali break for employees covered by the order.

The order does not cover private companies and does not automatically apply to government offices in other Maharashtra districts.

Atul Patne, Principal Secretary to the Government of Maharashtra, signed and authenticated the circular, which was circulated to the Governor’s Secretariat, the Chief Minister’s Office, deputy chief ministers’ offices, ministers’ offices and government departments.
