Mumbai’s seven water reservoirs stand at 95.83% capacity

Mumbai’s seven water-supply reservoirs held 13,86,969 million litres of usable water at 6am on September 2, or 95.83% of their combined live storage capacity.

The level was marginally lower than the 95.87% recorded a day earlier. The reservoirs together have a live storage capacity of 14,47,363 million litres.

Vehar was at 100% capacity. Modak Sagar stood at 99.29%, followed by Tansa at 98.29%, Middle Vaitarna at 98.15% and Tulsi at 97.50%. Bhatsa held 94.83% of its capacity, while Upper Vaitarna recorded the lowest stock at 89.76%.

Rainfall was reported across all seven catchment areas in the 24 hours before the measurement. Tansa received 26mm, Middle Vaitarna 15mm, Modak Sagar and Tulsi 14mm each, Upper Vaitarna 12mm, and Bhatsa and Vehar 8mm each.

Vehar and Tulsi began overflowing on July 7, followed by Tansa on July 22 and Modak Sagar on July 23. Upper Vaitarna also reached overflow level in July.
