Namma Metro logged 15 technical disruptions in 10 months

Fifteen technical faults disrupted Namma Metro services between September 2025 and July 2026, affecting trains on the Purple, Green and Yellow lines.

The incidents included signalling failures, traction-power interruptions, train-control faults and systems that confirm train doors are securely shut. Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda told the Karnataka Legislative Council that such problems led to delays, altered train movements, trains being withdrawn and, in some cases, short-loop operations.

The Green Line recorded seven incidents, including a third-rail power failure near the Jalahalli–Nagasandra/BIEC stretch on June 11 that required regulated services, short-loop or single-line operations for 51 minutes. The Purple Line recorded five incidents, among them a signalling relay failure in the Indiranagar interlocking area on March 15 that interrupted operations for about 25 minutes. The Yellow Line recorded three faults.

BMRCL conducts root-cause investigations after major failures, the minister said. The corporation is replacing or upgrading faulty components, introducing corrective measures and increasing preventive inspections and surveillance of signalling, train-control and traction equipment.
