Mumbai: Nani says The Paradise makers expected an A certificate

Nani said *The Paradise* has received an A certificate, a rating its makers had expected while developing the period action drama.

Speaking at a Mumbai press conference ahead of the film’s September 24 release, Nani said its violence was integral to the story rather than included for its own sake. “There’s drama, emotion, and love, but the violence portion is little higher,” he said.

Directed by Srikanth Odela, *The Paradise* is set in the slums of 1980s Secunderabad and follows a marginalised community facing discrimination and denial of basic rights. Nani said younger viewers would not be able to watch the film because of the violence, while its themes could resonate across age groups.

The cast includes Kayadu Lohar, Raghav Juyal, Mohan Babu, Sonali Kulkarni and Sampoornesh Babu. Keerthy Suresh makes a special appearance. The film is scheduled to release in multiple languages, including English, Bengali and Spanish.
