New Delhi: NDMC prioritises 99 civic projects, including drainage and EV charging

NDMC has placed 99 projects on a priority-completion list, with weekly reviews led by chairman Manoj Dwivedi tracking work on roads, drainage, markets, EV infrastructure, healthcare and other civic amenities.

The council’s dashboard will record each project’s timeline and reasons for delay. NDMC is checking procurement proposals against expected approval and award dates, while it is tracking ongoing works through project-progress charts.

Five projects are being finalised to tackle recurring waterlogging, following waterlogging in central Delhi earlier this monsoon. Short-term steps include high-capacity pumps and more frequent desilting of sump wells, drains and bell mouths. NDMC has also begun reviewing its drainage network, including whether drains can carry more water and be linked so overflow can move to channels with spare capacity.

Five rainwater-capture works along carriageways are in progress. NDMC has 102 EV charging stations and is studying more than 150 potential sites. Plans to upgrade Connaught Place, Khan Market, Sarojini Nagar, Palika Bazar and Super Bazar are included, while an area-wide smart parking proposal is awaiting approval.
