Neena Gupta recalls growing up in Delhi’s Rehgarpura

Neena Gupta recalls a neighbour in Rehgarpura who wanted to give her a bath. The actor said *Chumbak*, her new Netflix series, took her back to the Delhi neighbourhood where she grew up.

She recalled neighbours dropping by for small essentials such as jaaman for curd or sugar. As children, she said, they spent long stretches in neighbours’ homes and sometimes ate there before returning home.

Gupta contrasted those memories with a time before home deliveries and instant messages became routine. She said the neighbourhood’s closeness also brought interference and gossip, dynamics reflected in *Chumbak*.

The series follows five families in an urban Indian neighbourhood and features Deven Bhojani, Arjun Bijlani, Helly Shah, Sumeet Vyas, Manasi Parekh, Sumeet Raghvan, Sandeepa Dhar, Delnaaz Irani, Anant V. Joshi and Amyra Dastur.
