New Delhi parks to get open gyms and upgraded children’s play areas

Residents using neighbourhood parks in the New Delhi constituency are set to see new outdoor fitness equipment and upgraded play areas under a ₹3.91-crore NDMC project.

The civic body has begun inviting bids to supply and install facilities through the CMD Fund Scheme. The plan includes 26 multi-activity play structures across 12 varieties, along with 42 each of duck-shaped spring rockers, horse-shaped spring rockers, merry-go-rounds and double-user seesaws.

Open-air gym equipment will also be installed, while children’s areas are to receive new swings, slides and other play structures. NDMC officials said the work is intended to give walkers, people exercising outdoors and children more usable recreation spaces close to home.

Contractors must follow Central Public Works Department standards and National Green Tribunal guidelines, including dust-control measures during installation. The project timeline is six months from the start of work.
