NGT directs Noida CEO to review concrete removal around trees in two months

The National Green Tribunal has given Noida’s CEO two months to examine claims that concrete around trees was only partly removed at several locations in the city.

Noida resident Devendra Kumar submitted geotagged photographs to the tribunal. He alleged that the agency assigned the work removed only 10–15cm of concrete around some trees, rather than one metre, and did not carry out the work at other sites.

Kumar also alleged that trees were heavily pruned in some places, affecting their chances of survival. The tribunal asked the district forest officer to verify the pruning claims and file a report.

The NGT said the allegations require on-ground verification. If they are substantiated, remedial and punitive action may follow.

The Noida CEO must complete the examination and act on the findings within two months.
