NHAI halts soil testing for proposed Ambience Mall–Cyber City flyover

NHAI has stopped soil investigation work on the service road near Ambience Mall, where DLF is planning a six-lane flyover towards Cyber City.

The agency said DLF had permission for soil investigation, but not for drilling on the main service road, particularly near the edge of a flyover retaining wall. Barricades and diversions set up for the work slowed traffic, with queues stretching towards the pedestrian underpass on the expressway.

NHAI said the ground must first be assessed using ground-penetrating radar because several underground utilities run through the area. It said bore logging could instead be carried out at suitable nearby locations, preferably in green space, and that it would issue a letter to the agency.

A DLF representative said the company had obtained permission to check soil and ground conditions for the proposed flyover. The planned elevated corridor would run above the existing four-lane service road, with ramps linking traffic from the U-turn underpass towards Cyber City and IFFCO Chowk. The project has in-principle approval and is expected to proceed after further approvals are secured.
