Gurgaon: NHAI prepares Dwarka Expressway link study for UER-I

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is preparing a detailed project report (DPR) for a proposed connector between Gurgaon’s Upper Dwarka Expressway and Delhi’s planned Urban Extension Road-I (UER-I).

The DPR will examine the route’s feasibility, traffic demand, land requirements, drainage, structures and junction design. It will also assess whether the connection requires underpasses, flyovers or grade-separated intersections.

The proposed connection includes a roughly 4km gap between Sector 109 and Najafgarh Road in Delhi. About 2.5km on the Gurgaon side is already a 75-metre-wide road. A 300-metre section before the Bajghera MCD toll booth and a 1.3km stretch through Raghopur village remain bottlenecks.

UER-I is planned to link routes including the Chandigarh highway, Rohtak Road, UER-II, Bahadurgarh and the Sonipat spur before meeting NH-8 at Kapashera.

An earlier estimate put the cost of upgrading the pending stretch at around Rs 103 crore, including the acquisition of nearly 25 acres. The DPR will assess the alignment, land needs, junction design and cost before any construction decision is made.
