NMMC to repair Navi Mumbai potholes before Ganeshotsav

Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) will repair potholes on major city roads before Ganeshotsav, including stretches maintained by other agencies, the civic body has said.

NMMC will take up damaged roads maintained by the Public Works Department, Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation, National Highways Authority of India and APMC. It plans to recover repair costs from the respective road-owning agencies. The decision follows public complaints about road conditions across the city.

NMMC Commissioner Dr Kailas Shinde has asked the engineering department to begin repairs immediately. Officials will patrol roads to identify potholes, geo-tag each location and record details for monitoring. City Engineer Shirish Aradwad and Additional Commissioner Dr Rahul Gethe have been asked to inspect roads and review the work.

Officials will use mastic geopolymer technology for potholes and M-60 concrete with hardener technology for larger damaged stretches. Roads leading to Ganesh immersion ghats are to be prioritised for repair before the festival.
