Noida names BEOs for Jewar, Dadri and Dankaur amid NIPUN decline

Gautam Budh Nagar has appointed block education officers (BEOs) for Jewar, Dadri and Dankaur as the district ranked 70th in the 2025-26 NIPUN Bharat annual assessment.

In the assessment conducted in March, 123 of the district’s 420 government schools, or about 29%, achieved NIPUN status. In 2024-25, 330 of 378 schools, or 87%, had met the foundational literacy and numeracy benchmark for children in Classes 1 to 4.

Sunil Dutt Mugdal, Yashpal Singh and Pop Singh have been appointed BEOs for the three blocks. Along with Bisrakh, the blocks have around 80,000 students. A single BEO had largely overseen them, making regular inspections and follow-up difficult.

Basic Shiksha Adhikari Rahul Panwar said dedicated officers would be able to visit schools more regularly, review learning progress and identify gaps. The department also plans village-level Shiksha Chaupal consultations with parents, teachers, students and residents, with a budget of more than Rs 3 lakh, to discuss local education issues and encourage enrolment in government schools.
