Noida approves six-lane underpass at Parthala Chowk

Noida Authority has approved an ₹80-crore, six-lane underpass at Parthala Chowk, where traffic on Vikas Marg meets the Faridabad-Noida-Ghaziabad (FNG) corridor.

The planned underpass will have three lanes in each direction and run for about 710 metres, with 280-metre approach roads on either side. The Authority expects the project to take 18 months to complete.

Parthala Chowk connects Vikas Marg, linking Sectors 52 to 71 with Gaur Chowk, with the FNG route towards NH-9, the Delhi-Meerut Expressway, Dadri Main Road and Phase 2. The Authority opened the 600-metre Parthala flyover in 2023, but congestion has continued at the roundabout and along the FNG road.

Under the proposed layout, east-west traffic on Vikas Marg will use the flyover, while vehicles on the FNG corridor will pass through the underpass. The plan includes two sumps and a pumping system for rainwater drainage. The Authority said it will use diaphragm-wall technology and RCC construction.

The project is expected to serve residents of Sectors 119, 120, 121 and 122, as well as Chhijarsi and Sorkha. Gaurav Kumar, a Sorkha resident, said peak-hour traffic near the junction often barely moves.
