Noida District Hospital seeks 100 nurses and 50 doctors

Noida District Hospital needs at least 100 more staff nurses and 50 more doctors, officials said. Its existing workforce handles about 4,000 OPD patients and 300 inpatients each day.

Staffing concerns came into focus after a video showed a security guard filling syringes from ampoules for a nurse. The guard and nurse were suspended after the video surfaced. A nurse at the hospital said staff often monitor post-operative patients, administer injections, record readings and respond to relatives at the same time. The nurse said patients may wait one to two hours during peak OPD periods.

Bisrakh CHC, which sees around 800 patients daily, has five doctors and four nurses while conducting 150 to 200 deliveries a month. Bhangel CHC sees more than 700 patients daily and has nine doctors, seven nurses and three ward boys; it has no sweeper. Jewar CHC has five doctors and six paramedical staff, with no general surgeon, physician, orthopaedic specialist or eye specialist.

Fifteen staff nurses and two lab technicians stopped reporting from Monday after their salaries were halted amid an inquiry into their recruitment. The chief medical officer said staffing requirements from all hospitals will be sent to the state health department.
