Noida earmarks ₹3 crore for 450-metre ‘model route’ in Sector 126

Noida Authority has earmarked around ₹3 crore to turn a 450-metre stretch in Sector 126 into a “model route”, with footpaths, drains, green space and a central verge planned along the road.

The proposed road will be 30 metres wide. SP Singh, general manager at the authority, said the work is intended to make movement safer and smoother for motorists and pedestrians. Granite stone and tactile tiles are planned for the footpaths, while drains will be built on both sides of the route.

Sector 126 has several institutions and schools, making walkable access a practical concern for people using the area daily. Amit Chauhan, a Sector 73 resident and social activist, said pedestrian spaces developed elsewhere have at times been encroached upon by vendors. He said the new footpaths should remain available to pedestrians after they are built.

The project is being taken up under directions from Noida Authority chief executive officer Krishna Karunesh.
