Noida Expressway to get 1,200 solar-powered streetlights
The Noida Authority has approved 1,200 solar-powered streetlights for the Noida Expressway, backed by a 2.4MW battery storage system intended to keep them on during outages.
The project is meant to improve visibility on stretches that have gone dark when grid supply fails. Tata Projects is executing the work as part of Noida’s wider smart-lighting programme.
Motorists on the Noida Expressway are set to get 1,200 solar-powered streetlights under a project approved by the Noida Authority.
The system will include a 2.4MW battery energy storage system, designed to keep the lights running when regular grid power fails. Authority CEO Krishna Karunesh said the project would also increase illumination levels along the corridor, where some sections have periodically gone dark during outages.
Tata Projects is carrying out the work under the Authority’s broader smart-streetlight plan. The company has installed 76,366 LED lights across Noida so far.
Residents can report faulty streetlights through the Noida Smart LED Light mobile app, which digitally logs and tracks complaints. The Authority has also provided a toll-free helpline: 18001029574.
