Noida family alleges workplace harassment after 20-year-old’s death in Sector 137

A 20-year-old babysitter died after a fall from a high-rise in Noida’s Sector 137 on the evening of August 21, with her family alleging that her employer had sexually harassed her.

The woman, originally from Amroha, lived in Sector 168 and had worked at the home for three years. In their complaint, relatives said she had previously told them that her employer had touched her inappropriately several times. They said she had briefly left the job after speaking to the employer’s wife, then returned because she was emotionally attached to the couple’s daughter.

Her family also alleged foul play and protested before taking her body to Amroha for last rites on Sunday.

Police said they suspect suicide at this stage but have not determined the reason for her death. Rajeev Kumar Gupta, ACP, Central Noida, said investigators are examining all angles, including the family’s harassment allegation. No case had been registered by Sunday evening because the family’s statements were still to be recorded.

Police said action would follow after those statements are taken.
