Noida gives 50+ worker construction sites 15 days to set up crèches

Noida construction sites that ordinarily employ 50 or more workers have 15 days to set up crèches for workers’ children under an order issued by District Magistrate Medha Roopam.

The facilities must be accessible to workers and located away from construction dust, smoke and other hazards. They must have toilets, ventilation, lighting, safe drinking water, first-aid arrangements, and food and snacks suited to children’s needs.

Each crèche must be headed by a woman, and all staff must undergo police verification. The order also requires CCTV coverage and a register of children admitted to the facility. It prohibits physical or mental punishment of children.

Construction companies must prominently display emergency and child-protection contacts, including Dial 112 and Childline 1098, along with numbers for the fire officer, child protection officer and nearest police station.

The direction cites Section 24 of the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020, and Rule 58 of the central rules notified in May 2026.
