Noida has 110 buses; CSE sees need for over 250

Noida operates 110 city buses, although it needs more than 250, according to a Centre for Science and Environment report. Ghaziabad has 50 electric buses against an assessed requirement of more than 600.

For residents who live away from Greater Noida’s Aqua Line stations, the shortfall can mean taking an auto or cab to reach the Metro, adding to daily travel costs.

Kesari Nandan, regional manager at UPSRTC, said last-mile connectivity was a major gap. He said the NCR Transport Corporation and the urban development department had been asked to identify routes and options for expanding city-bus services.

Uttar Pradesh plans to add 1,725 electric buses through PM eBus Sewa, including 100 for Ghaziabad. Nandan said the Ghaziabad project is at the tendering stage.
