Noida plans 1,949 CCTV cameras at 561 sites under ₹212-crore Safe City project

Noida Authority plans to install 1,949 CCTV cameras at 561 locations under a ₹212-crore Safe City project, with a central command and control centre proposed in Sector 94.

The Authority is set to issue a request for proposal to appoint an implementing agency, CEO Krishna Karunesh said. The network is intended to support security, traffic management and emergency response across residential and commercial neighbourhoods, industrial sectors and public places.

The plan includes emergency panic buttons at 147 locations, up from 100 in the initial proposal. Automatic number plate recognition cameras are proposed at 100 locations, along with 20 variable message display boards and public-address systems at 418 locations.

A dedicated data centre and backup storage facility are also planned alongside the Sector 94 control centre, allowing centralised monitoring and continuity if systems fail. The project is being implemented through the Centre’s Nirbhaya Fund, which supports safety initiatives for women and children in public spaces. Officials expect completion within a year once implementation begins.
