Noida raises New Noida land compensation; BKU-Tikait plans Sept 14 protest

Noida Authority has raised compensation for farmers receiving a 5% developed plot from Rs 4,224 to Rs 6,459 per sqm for land needed for the New Noida project.

The Noida Authority board approved the revised package on Saturday. For land acquired through mutual agreement without a developed-plot provision, compensation has increased from Rs 5,324 to Rs 6,459 per sqm. Authority CEO Krishna Karunesh said the package was intended to make farmers partners in Noida's development and economic prosperity.

New Noida, formally the Dadri-Noida-Ghaziabad Investment Region, is planned across 84 villages in Gautam Budh Nagar and Bulandshahr. Its first phase covers 3,165 hectares in 37 villages, where surveys and land-record checks are underway.

Rates will differ across later phases. Phases 1 and 2 will use Greater Noida Authority's compensation rate with 6% developed plots, while phases 3 and 4 will use Yamuna Authority's rate with 7% developed plots.

Sunil Pradhan of BKU-Tikait said farmers want compensation of Rs 10,000 per sqm and resolution of pending abadi-land cases. The group plans to protest at the offices of the Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna authorities on September 14.
