Noida ranks eighth in Swachh Vayu Sarvekshan 2026

Noida has moved up to eighth place among Indian cities with populations between 3 lakh and 10 lakh in the fifth Swachh Vayu Sarvekshan 2026, improving from ninth last year.

The Union environment ministry’s survey assessed 130 cities on air-quality improvement, road-dust control, green spaces and public participation. Rourkela topped Noida’s population category; Lucknow led the category for cities with more than 10 lakh residents.

The Noida Authority credited tighter dust-control measures at construction sites, mechanical sweeping on major roads, water sprinkling and pollution monitoring. It also cited expanded green belts, electric buses and awareness campaigns involving residents.

In Ghaziabad, the ranking improved from 12th to ninth in the above-10-lakh population category. The survey result is a relative measure of municipal clean-air efforts, rather than a reading of daily air quality.

Noida Authority general manager SP Singh said the agency would work towards meeting prescribed standards and improving its position in the next survey.
