Noida Sector 19 water supply restored after pipeline damage leaves residents dry for nearly 24 hours

Water began spilling onto roads near Ganda Nalla in Sector 19’s B Block after a contractor damaged a supply pipeline during maintenance work, leaving residents without water for nearly 24 hours.

The disruption began around 9.30am on Thursday and supply resumed around 8.30am on Friday, residents said. Sector 19 ordinarily receives water twice a day, from 6am to 9am and 6pm to 9pm. Friday morning’s scheduled supply was delayed, adding to the shortage.

Residents said they purchased packaged water for household chores and rationed their use. The leak also caused minor waterlogging on roads in the sector.

RC Gupta, president of the Sector 19 residents’ welfare association, said the area regularly faces low-pressure and dirty water, as well as supply interruptions. He has written to Noida Authority officials. The RWA has asked for an inquiry into the contractor’s role and the water department’s response, and wants action to prevent another disruption.
