Noida tenants question separate gym and pool charges in housing societies

Arpita, a tenant at Golf City in Noida, says her family pays Rs 3,000 a month in maintenance but was recently asked to pay separately to use the gym and swimming pool. She said her rent agreement mentions maintenance but not a separate pool charge.

Similar user charges operate at several high-rise societies. At Supertech Capetown, an individual pays Rs 500 a month and a family pays Rs 1,000. Grand Ajnara charges Rs 1,000 for families, while charges reported at Skytech Matrott and Dasnac The Jewel are Rs 650 and Rs 700, respectively. At Pan Oasis, a resident said both owners and tenants pay user charges, with owners paying Rs 100 less.

Supertech Capetown RWA president Gaurav Arora said the society introduced its charge after gym equipment was found damaged two years ago. He said the money supports welfare work and the protection of facilities.

Some societies charge owners and tenants the same amount. At White House, owner Virendra Prasad said the swimming pool costs Rs 300 and the gym costs Rs 800 for both groups.

Noida Authority additional CEO Vandana Tripathi said the Authority cannot intervene in housing-society disputes without regulations. She advised tenants with such complaints to approach their landlords.
