Noida’s rain-damaged roads leave commuters facing longer, bumpier trips

The one-kilometre road in Sector 122, linking Noida’s 7X sectors, has remained damaged for nearly 18 months and now slows peak-hour traffic, residents said. Nalini Verma, who lives in the sector, said people travelling to IGI Airport or New Delhi railway station budget an extra hour to 90 minutes for the journey.

Other rough stretches include the MP2 elevated road between Sector 71 and Kailash Hospital; the route from the Parthala flyover near Cleo County in Sector 121 to the Sector 71-52 underpass; Shashi Chowk in Sector 37; and Film City Road near the T-Series office. Parts of the three-kilometre route from the Noida Stadium’s Sector 11-22 intersection to Rajnigandha Chowk are also damaged.

In Sector 105, RWA president Deepak Sharma said faulty drainage and damaged drains leave water standing after rain. Sector 55 RWA president Satnarayan Goyal said a tender had been issued for an 18-metre-wide road, though higher bitumen costs had delayed work.

Noida Authority general manager AK Arora said material shortages had delayed repairs. He said work has begun in some sectors, with severely affected roads to be prioritised after the monsoon, likely in September.
