NSG canine Donny receives Army commendation for Red Fort blast response

Donny, an explosives-detection canine with the National Security Guard's K9 Unit, has received the Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card for his role in the response to the November 2025 blast near Delhi's Red Fort.

Officials said Donny was deployed on November 10 to sanitise the blast site, where he detected explosive traces amid the debris. The blast killed 12 people and critically injured 32 others.

On November 12, Donny was sent to Khandawali in Faridabad to screen a vehicle suspected of carrying explosives connected to the attack. His detection helped investigators secure the vehicle and pursue leads, officials said.

The Army cited Donny's performance under pressure in awarding the commendation on Independence Day. He was among three Army dogs recognised this year, alongside Lucky and Adil; the list also included 11 Agniveers.
