Panvel RTO asks Konkan-bound motorists to use black-spot alert app

Motorists travelling from Panvel to Konkan during Ganeshotsav are being asked to download the ‘Black Spot RTO Panvel’ app before setting out.

The free app, available on Google Play and Apple’s App Store, lists identified accident-prone stretches, dangerous curves and other road hazards. It alerts users as they approach a black spot, allowing them to slow down and take precautions.

Panvel RTO issued the advisory as traffic is expected to increase on the Mumbai-Pune and Mumbai-Goa highways and other Konkan-bound routes. Travellers have been asked to follow speed limits, avoid unsafe overtaking, wear seat belts or helmets as applicable, and not drive after consuming alcohol or drugs. Drivers who are tired or drowsy have been advised to stop safely and rest before continuing.

Panvel RTO and the Raigad district administration are also using garbage collection vehicles in the Panvel Municipal Corporation area and 98.3 FM broadcasts to share road-safety messages. Konkan-bound traffic has already produced a 9-km tailback near Palaspe.
