Forest department flags paver blocks in Mangar Bani

Forest officials say interlocking paver blocks have again been stored at several locations inside Mangar Bani, weeks after the department halted alleged unauthorised road-laying work in the Gurgaon forest.

Divisional forest officer Jhalkar Uyake said the department removed labourers and stopped the work on July 18 after receiving complaints that a paved internal road was being laid without permission. According to Uyake, some sections of the route now appear paved, while more material has been stored along it.

Uyake said the forest department returned to stop the activity and wrote to the Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP), seeking action because the site falls within a notified no-construction zone.

Haryana notified Mangar Bani and its 500-metre buffer as a no-construction zone in June 2016. Construction, tree felling and mining are prohibited there.
