Pink Line’s first 7km may open in September, but Bannerghatta Road access remains patchy

Kalena Agrahara, the proposed southern terminal of the first 7km Pink Line section, may begin receiving trains in September. But the walk to the station remains difficult in several places along Bannerghatta Road.

Footpaths are absent on stretches towards NICE Road, while others are obstructed by garbage and mud. Open drains run beside parts of the road, including near the makeshift bus stop at the Himagiri Main Road junction. Near Hulimavu station, buses stop without a shelter, and nearby residential approaches from Hulimavu Main Road, BDA 80Ft Road and Arekere Road lack proper pedestrian paths.

BMRCL is hopeful of opening the elevated Kalena Agrahara–Tavarekere section this month after earlier missed deadlines. At Jayadeva, passengers will be able to change between the Pink and Yellow lines; the six-level station will be Bengaluru’s third Metro interchange after Majestic and RV Road.

Parking is planned at Tavarekere, IIMB, Hulimavu and Kalena Agrahara stations, with room for 575 two-wheelers in total. Residents have called for repaired roads and walkable footpaths before services begin.
