Gurugram police say Golf Course Road collision accused visited MG Road club

Shivani Chauhan’s Aprilia RS 457 was allegedly chased for about 2km on Golf Course Road before a white Maruti Ciaz struck it, police said.

Police say Kalyan Singh Bainsla, who they allege was driving the car, visited The Empire club at MGF Metropolitan mall on MG Road with his cousin and friends the previous night. He had borrowed the Ciaz from a friend, police said. Shrikant, whom police described as an associate, was also in the vehicle.

Police allege that co-accused Lavnish encouraged Bainsla to pursue Chauhan and abused her. Chauhan told police that the driver made indecent gestures, tried to pull alongside her motorcycle and struck it after she signalled for the vehicle to move away. Her bike-camera video showed the motorcycle sliding on the road after the collision.

Police arrested Bainsla and Lavnish in Rajasthan on September 15 and seized the Ciaz. A local court sent them to police custody until Friday, and officers took them to the location on Thursday to reconstruct the events. Police added an attempted-murder charge after reviewing Chauhan’s statement and CCTV footage. Investigators are also examining whether people in the car had consumed alcohol.
