Preity Zinta speaks at Delhi’s Hindu College on films and cricket

Preity Zinta brought film memories, cricket stories and career advice to a packed Hindu College auditorium in Delhi University’s North Campus on Wednesday.

Reflecting on 25 years of *Dil Chahta Hai*, in which she played Shalini, Zinta said a present-day version would retain its friendship and uncertainty, though some scenes might become social-media memes. Discussing relationships in films such as *Veer-Zaara*, *Kal Ho Naa Ho* and *Kya Kehna*, she told students that love lasts when it is rooted in mutual respect.

Zinta recalled learning to bat from Yuvraj Singh before an owners’ match, determined to hit a four. Speaking about her cricket team, she said her favourite moment would be lifting the trophy. She also described Arshdeep Singh’s development from a young player with the side to an India bowler as a source of pride.

Addressing women in the audience, Zinta described her path from Shimla to Mumbai and urged them not to give up. She said education can change an individual’s life, family and future. Zinta distributed T-shirts, danced with students to “Pretty Woman”, and took selfies and signed autographs after the session.
