Nagothane flyover: PWD orders Ganeshotsav traffic measures

Light vehicles must be able to cross the Nagothane flyover without interruption during Ganeshotsav, PWD Minister Shivendraraje Bhosale told officials preparing the Mumbai-Goa Highway for festival travel.

At a review meeting in Mahad, Bhosale ordered daily reports on traffic management and safety at the flyover. He asked agencies to identify alternative routes for congestion and repair internal roads that may carry diverted traffic before the 10-day festival begins.

Facility centres at identified points along the highway are to provide drinking water, electricity, medical assistance, sanitation and mobile toilets for people travelling towards Konkan.

Bhosale also directed the Mangaon and Indapur bypass projects, on the Panvel-Indapur and Indapur-Zarap stretches, to meet their stipulated deadlines without disrupting motorists.

He said he would take up a possible Ganeshotsav toll waiver with Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari.
