PWD seeks consultant for Kashmere Gate Metro foot overbridge

PWD has invited consultants to survey and design a foot overbridge across Boulevard Road near Kashmere Gate Metro station, connecting the areas around gates 3 and 4 with gates 5 and 6.

Kashmere Gate is an interchange for the Red, Yellow and Violet Metro lines, with commuters also moving between the station, surrounding roads and nearby transport facilities. The proposed bridge would provide an alternative to crossing Boulevard Road at street level.

The selected architectural and engineering consultancy will carry out topographical, utility-mapping and soil surveys before preparing the bridge layout, concept design and detailed project report. Its work will also include a preliminary cost estimate.

PWD's design brief includes staircases, ramps, foundations, railings, lighting and structural framing. It calls for barrier-free access for people with disabilities, anti-skid flooring, guard rails, crash barriers, CCTV cameras and a public announcement system. Landscaping, signage, waiting areas and street furniture are proposed around the approaches.
