Delhi PWD to study 8km elevated corridor and Mayur Vihar underpass

Delhi’s Public Works Department will commission feasibility studies for an 8km elevated corridor from Rani Jhansi Road to Punjabi Bagh West Metro station and a 500-metre underpass near the Crown Plaza traffic signal in Mayur Vihar.

The proposed elevated corridor would pass through Anand Parbat and Zakhira, creating a grade-separated connection towards west Delhi. The study will also examine an elevated link from Rani Jhansi Road towards Anand Parbat. A proposed flyover between Anand Parbat and Brahma Kumari Chowk over New Rohtak Road will be considered separately later.

In Mayur Vihar, the department will examine an underpass near the Crown Plaza traffic signal, close to a DMRC elevated corridor. The proposal would take through traffic below the junction, while a rotary at ground level would handle other movements.

The two consultancy studies are estimated to cost ₹2.73 crore. The PWD is already working on about 18 flyover and underpass projects announced over the past two years.

If either proposal proceeds, detailed project reports will assess design, construction costs, financial viability, environmental and social considerations, and road-safety requirements.
