Railway Board sanctions trains for Bengaluru Pink Line’s elevated section

BMRCL has received Railway Board sanction for BEML trainsets planned for the 7.5-km elevated section of Bengaluru Metro’s Pink Line between Kalena Agrahara and Tavarekere.

BMRCL must submit the sanction among the documents required by the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS) for inspection and examination. Passenger services can begin only after the CMRS authorises the section.

The elevated stretch had earlier been expected to open in September. Greater Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda said after a September 2 inspection that the civil and elevated works were ready. He had initially said the section could open by August 15.

The 21.3-km Pink Line will run from Kalena Agrahara to Nagawara, with about 7.5 km elevated and 13.8 km underground. The underground section is expected by March 2027 and will pass through Dairy Circle, M.G. Road, Shivajinagar and Tannery Road.
