Dankaur: rain damages Yamuna Expressway shoulder, restricts left lane

Rainfall has damaged a nearly 200-metre section of the Yamuna Expressway shoulder near Dankaur, leaving deep cavities beside the carriageway on the Greater Noida-Jewar side.

The left lane, used as a rescue lane, has been restricted and marked with paver blocks and traffic barriers. Traffic is continuing on the expressway’s other three lanes.

Gaurav Kumar, travelling from Noida to Agra, said the damaged stretch could be dangerous for fast-moving vehicles, particularly after dark, when lighting on the expressway is limited.

Jaypee Infratech Ltd, the expressway concessionaire, said rain had cut into the left shoulder and that restoration work had begun. Assistant general manager JK Sharma described it as routine monsoon-season repair work and said the repairs were expected to be completed within two weeks.
