Rain waterlogs Noida villages; auto-rickshaw overturns in Loni

Lane No. 1 near Krishna Inter College in Garhi Chaukhandi was flooded after Monday’s rain, making travel difficult for residents. Bhola Thakur, who lives in the village near Sector 68, said the road turns into a pond after every spell of rain.

Water also accumulated on Pusta Road in Behlolpur near Sector 63. Resident Sonu Yadav said ramps extending onto both sides of the road had narrowed the passage, while iron poles on the stretch posed a hazard during waterlogging. In Sarfabad, near Sector 73, residents reported flooded roads and a foul smell from clogged sewers.

In Ghaziabad’s Loni, an auto-rickshaw overturned on Delhi-Saharanpur Road after its driver hit a pothole while moving through floodwater. People nearby pulled out the driver and passengers, who were injured but not seriously, police said. Banthla flyover was also waterlogged.

Rain slowed traffic on NH-9 during peak hours. In Vaishali, low-lying roads flooded, including the route from Shopprix Mall towards Mahagun Mall, residents said.
