Delhi rain waterlogs Sadar Bazaar, slows traffic from Zakhira to Dhaula Kuan

Sadar Bazaar shopkeeper Sunil Srivastava said dry-fruit bags stored on the floor got wet after rainwater entered the Teliwara area near Mithai Pul. Some stock will have to be dried and sold at lower prices, he said.

Traffic slowed sharply at Zakhira underpass and on Rohtak Road. Water levels at an underpass towards Indira Gandhi International Airport rose to about one to 1.5 feet, with several cars stranded.

Waterlogging was reported on Mehrauli-Badarpur Road, near Mahipalpur flyover, in Sainik Farms, Vasant Kunj, Kamla Nagar, and near Connaught Place, ITO and the Supreme Court. Traffic also slowed on Ring Road near Ashram Chowk, South Extension, Safdarjung Hospital and Dhaula Kuan, and on routes between Nehru Place and Okhla and between Chirag Delhi and Munirka via IIT flyover.

At about 11.22 am, part of a dilapidated building collapsed near Delhi Gate. Police said nobody was injured, though three to four two-wheelers were damaged. The MCD had previously issued a notice over the building’s condition.
