Rain damages key Gurugram roads, slowing traffic

Rain has damaged road surfaces on several busy Gurugram routes, slowing traffic for office-goers, two-wheeler riders and pedestrians.

Affected stretches include MG Road near Guru Dronacharya Metro Station, Ghata Road, the Kapashera and Sirhaul-Kapashera border roads, Palam Vihar and Sheetla Mata Mandir Road. Water-filled potholes can obscure their depth, while loose gravel and damaged patches are prompting vehicles to slow down, brake and change lanes.

The Sirhaul-Kapashera road, a route to Udyog Vihar, is congested where potholes coincide with buses and cabs parked along the sides. Near the Guru Dronacharya Metro approach, GSB material and paver blocks have been used as a temporary fix. Wet gravel has made turns and braking more difficult. Residents have also reported damaged patches and waterlogging near the Dwarka Expressway underpass on the Sector 102-102A road.

GMDA said it is filling damaged portions to restore them to motorable condition and has repaired a stretch near Atul Katariya Chowk. It has also floated a tender for special repair work on the full Ghata Road stretch.
