Rajiv Chowk interchange plan adds two flyovers; tender targeted by March 2027

Two flyovers are planned at Rajiv Chowk, where traffic from NH8, Sohna Road, Civil Lines and Subhash Chowk meets at ground level.

NHAI has proposed a two-lane left-turn flyover with paved shoulders for vehicles travelling from Delhi towards Sohna Road. A three-lane right-turn flyover above the existing NH8 flyover is planned for traffic moving from Sohna towards Delhi. The structures are intended to carry through traffic past the junction rather than mixing it with local vehicles.

The interchange alignment has been approved, NHAI officials said at a review meeting chaired by Haryana principal adviser for urban development DS Dhesi. The final detailed project report is being prepared, while an issue involving telecom department land is being resolved. NHAI expects to invite tenders by March 2027 after the report is approved.

The meeting decided to close the existing non-motorised transport facility at Rajiv Chowk on safety grounds. Officials said it is underused and prone to monsoon waterlogging. Agencies have been asked to finalise concept plans within a month for footpath improvements, including within 500 metres of Millennium City Centre and Iffco Chowk metro stations.
