New Delhi: Rajnath Singh approves DRDO missile technology transfer

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has approved the transfer of DRDO-developed technologies for all conventional missile systems to Indian industry.

The Ministry of Defence said eligible companies can take up indigenous production of these systems if they meet the required qualifications, certifications and regulatory requirements. The ministry said the approval is intended to bring more domestic firms into defence manufacturing and reduce reliance on foreign suppliers.

The ministry said defence production rose 15.6% in FY 2024-25 and was 110% higher than Rs 84,643 crore recorded in FY 2020-21. Defence exports reached Rs 38,424 crore in FY 2025-26, against a government target of Rs 50,000 crore by 2029.

Private companies accounted for 24% of defence production in FY 2025-26, while defence public-sector undertakings and other public entities accounted for about 76%.
